How To Manage Booking Payments
What this does
This guide explains the Payments settings page in Booking.
Use this page to choose booking payment rules, card automation behavior, and the payment options customers can see.
Before you start
- The user must already have access to
Booking. - This page is intended for
Admins. - A working card provider should already be connected if you want to use card-required modes or automation.
Why the Admin App matters here
Shared provider setup can live in the Admin App.
If Booking payment behavior is not working as expected, one of the first things to verify is whether the provider setup upstream is complete.
Payment collection should also make sense beside the rest of the suite. If customers are expected to pay both during booking and later from an invoice, the Booking-side rules should line up with the Invoice payment experience.
Steps
- Open
Booking. - Go to
Settings. - Select
Payments. - Review the
Card providersection. - Use
Edit your settings hereif the provider configuration still needs work. - In
Booking payment rules, choose the right booking payment mode for the company. - If you use
PAY_LATER_SELECTION, enable the pay-later methods customers should see. - In
Card automation, decide whether to enable:
- automatic hold
- automatic capture
- Configure the timing and percentage rules if those automations are enabled.
- Save the settings.
Common mistakes
- Turning on card-required payment modes before the provider connection is ready.
- Enabling automation without thinking through the timing from the customer perspective.
- Treating Booking payment rules as separate from the shared provider setup.
What to do next
If the customer-facing side also needs portal access and branded links, continue to customer portal and custom domain settings.
