How To Manage Timecards Permissions

What this does

This guide explains the Permissions page inside Timecards.

This page controls manager visibility and who can export report data.

Before you start

  • The user must have access to Settings.
  • In practice this page is aimed at company administrators and managers with settings access.

Steps

  1. Open Timecards.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Permissions.
  4. In Default manager visibility, choose one of the available options:
  • Only teams they manage
  • Teams they belong to
  • Divisions they belong to
  • Whole company
  1. Click Save Settings.
  2. In Timecard report exports, decide which roles may export report data:
  • Managers
  • Viewers
  • Staff
  1. Click Save Settings again.

Why this matters across the suite

These visibility rules only make sense if the team and division structure in the Admin App is correct.

If managers are attached to the wrong division or team upstream, this page will reflect that problem instead of solving it.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting manager visibility rules to work well when team assignments are incomplete.
  • Giving export access broadly without deciding who should really be able to take labor data out of the app.

What to do next

If the wrong people can see the wrong data, check both this page and the staff structure in the Admin App.

If reports need custom output, continue to export settings.
